The Peers With Whom We Work
Our staff has the opportunity to work with Occupational Therapists, Physical Therapists, Social Workers, Psychologists, Special Educational Teachers and Classroom Teachers. This team approach is advantageous to our students as well as stimulating to our clinicians.

The Children
Northern Westchester Center for Speech Disorders offers a variety of caseloads and settings. Our providers can choose to work with toddlers, preschool children or with school age children in public school settings. Our toddlers and preschool students are usually seen on a one to one basis. Parents are an essential part of our programs. Parents of toddlers are often part of the session. We teach parents how to encourage speech and language skills as well as working directly with the children. These services are provided in homes & daycare centers. Preschool students are seen usually individually in their homes or in their preschool settings. Our students have a variety of difficulties ranging from articulation, language acquisition, language processing, expressive language, pragmatics, pervasive developmental disorder, selective mutism, fluency, appraxia and oral motor difficulties. In our public school settings caseloads are manageable with children being seen in small groups. These children range in age from 5 years to 18 years of age. The speech-language difficulties are usually in the area receptive and expressive language or in articulation. There are pull out programs and push in programs.

Our programs are highly rewarding. Many children progress significantly in short periods of time due to the individual programs, parent involvement and professionalism of our staff. Many students move out of special education due to the progress they have made in therapy.
